Steve & Anna Gough

Owners and locals.

Steve and Anna are new to the hospitality business but have big experience in the real world. Steve’s passionate about craft beer and would talk to you about it for hours (if you let him), and Anna’s favourite things are seeing people have a great time and doing the creative stuff behind the scenes. Anna’s Dad, Lloyd, was fundamental to the fit out and opening of Albert’s Post in the very early days, so it truly has been a family adventure.

Melvin Villacruz

Head Chef

Melvin is originally from the Phillipines and has spent six years in hospitality there and here in New Zealand.  He’s inspired by fusions, and he loves putting local and international ingredients together.

Melvin loves the feeling of finishing a Friday night with a challenge. He thinks of Monday to Thursday as training and when it comes to Friday, he goes all out!


Shubham Chandra

Restaurant Manager

Hailing from Allahabad in India, Shub has been with the Albert’s Post team since May 2019. His hometown is famous for Kumbh Mela, the world’s largest pilgrammage where people from all over the world come and take a dip at the joining of the three holy rivers. Shub studied Hospitality in Scotland, and joined us from the Northern Club in Auckland. He is passionate about giving outstanding customer service, and particularly enjoys a good Whisky.


Sam Madden-Hart

Front of House


Sam is from Auckland, and has worked in hospitality for four years. He’s inspired by real food and drink made from scratch and service that leaves a guest feeling more like a friend than a colleague. His favourite thing about working in hospitality is the satisfaction from leaving a customer happy and the rush of a busy service.
